SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1

A member of the travel staff will meet you at the gateway airport. This afternoon you will transfer to your Washington, DC area hotel and receive a brief orientation. This evening you’ll meet with the coaches and enjoy our first seminar on the college recruiting process.

Day 2

This morning we’ll tour our nation’s capital. You will visit the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, the White House, and Washington Monument. After lunch at the Old Post Office Pavilion, it’s on to Arlington National Cemetery to see the changing of the guard ceremony and visit the Kennedy gravesite. A full day of touring ends with dinner at a downtown restaurant and then a second seminar on hitting.

Day 3

This morning you’ll have a chance to visit the National Mall and the museums of the Smithsonian Institution. Spend time in the National Gallery of Art, Hirschorn Museum of Modern Art, Air and Space, Natural History, National Archives, American History or the Holocaust Museum. An afternoon visit to Georgetown University and the local shops gives you a chance to find souvenirs. A third evening seminar on off-season conditioning and strength training is planned. 

Day 4

The morning is free to get packed for your international flight. Early afternoon departure for Dulles International Airport where you will board a flight to Europe. The overnight flight includes meals, movies, and beverage services.

Day 5

Arrive Amsterdam. After clearing Dutch customs and immigration formalities, transfer to Haarlem, your first base in Holland.

Day 6

Morning game at a local field. After lunch, a guided tour of Amsterdam includes the Anne Frank House, a diamond factory and time for shopping.

Day 7

This morning, enjoy a tour of Zaanse Schanse, the area of windmills, a cheese farm and a wooden shoe factory.

Day 8

Depart Haarlem this morning, across the border, into Belgium. Arrive Antwerp and check into your hotel.

Day 9

Today, you enjoy a guided tour of the city, including the Town Hall, Grand Plaza, Olde Cathedral and much more.

Day 10

Depart Antwerp for a trip to Brugge, a renaissance capital of Belgium. Your day includes a look at the only Michelangelo to leave Italy during his lifetime, a “Madonna and Child.” Then, stop in Ghent, an ancient capital of Flanders on the way to Oosterhout, in Holland.

Day 11

Visit the amusement park, “Den Efteling,” for rides and attractions.

Day 12

Depart Oosterhout this morning for Apeldoorn. En route, visit the capital city of Holland…Den Haage (the Hague). Also, visit Delft, home of the Dutch blue porcelain and the North Sea beach resorts. Check into your hotel upon arrival in Apeldoorn and unpack, relax and get settled for tomorrow’s opening of the tournament.

Day 13

Today marks the opening of the 2003 Apeldoorn Softball-Series. Round-robin games will determine your playoff seeding. While not on the field, visit the Palace Het Loo, former summer home of the Dutch royal family.
Day 14 Visit the Apenheul, or Ape Park, where you can pet, hold and even feed several species of monkey here in the park.
Day 15 Explore the open-air market in the town square this morning. Good buys can be found if you are a shrewd shopper!
Day 16 Today is dedicated to the finals of the Series. Playoff games will depend on your seeding following the round-robin play. Following the Championship Game, a BBQ and farewell ceremony is planned.
Day 17 Depart for Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam and your flight home to the USA. Arrive later this very same afternoon.
