  Hawaii – The Destination

With a number of outstanding club organizations, Hawaiian fastpitch is some of the best in the world. On the island or Oahu alone, thousands of young ballplayers vie for the island championships each summer. Beginning competition as young as age 6, many of the islanders play year-round. Many of the better players come to the mainland to compete at the collegiate level in California and around the West Coast.

Mention the word Hawaii and a thousand vacation images come to mind. Often confused with "The Big Island", Oahu isn't the biggest in terms of land-mass, but rather in population. Home to the bustling state capital of Honolulu, Oahu is Hawaii's most popular tourism destination. It's here you'll find some of the most recognizable landmarks in the world -- Diamond Head's jagged facade, somber Pearl Harbor and vibrant Waikiki Beach. Oahu is perfect for anyone looking for an incredible range of activities and attractions, including some of the state's best snorkeling, legendary surf spots, museums, fabulous shopping, dynamic nightlife and five-star restaurants. But, though Oahu is packed with action and adventure, there are also many great escapes off the beaten path.

Weather on all of the Hawaiian islands is very consistent, with only moderate changes in temperature throughout the year. This is possible due to the year-round warm sea surface temperatures, which keeps the overlying atmosphere warm as well. In practical terms there are only 2 seasons here: the summer months (called Kau in Hawaiian) that extend from May to October and the winter months (Ho'oilo) that run from November to April. The average day-time summer temperature at sea level is 85 degrees F. (29.4 C) while the average day-time winter temperature is 78 degrees (25.6 C). Night-time temperatures are approximately 10 degrees F. lower.
