Unknown to many Americans, Australia has produced over 50 current Major and Minor Leaguers and boasts a professional league of their own. The world's largest island is also covered by scouts from both American and National League ballclubs. Aussie baseball is organized on a club system where individuals play for the club of their choice. Some of the strongest clubs traditionally come from the New South Wales and Queensland regions you'll be visiting.

Because it is such a remote island-nation, Australia's ecosystem is different that much of the rest of the world. A recent book on the subject suggests that over 90% of all living things (plants, animals, insects, etc.) in Australia exist nowhere else in the world. Whether you are lucky enough to encounter a kangaroo, wallaby or koala in the wild you will surely see things you have never seen before. Your tour will take you to one of the most historic cities Down Under.

SAMPLE TOUR ITINERARY

Day
1

Assemble in Los Angeles for pre-tour orientation. Evening program includes program orientation meeting as well as dinner with coaches and teammates.

Day
2

Full day of seminars at your Los Angeles area hotel. In preparation for your trip, hear experts talk on topics like college recruiting, off-season conditioning and strength-training, the dangers of performance-enhancing drugs and alcohol as well as softball-specific topics like pitching, hitting and baserunning. This evening you will depart Los Angeles for Sydney, Australia. The overnight flight includes meals, movies, and beverage services.

Day
3

Today is "lost" in crossing the International Date Line. However, the time is "regained" on the way home.

Day
 4

Arrive Adelaide. After clearing Australian customs and immigration formalities, meet your Australian Tour Manager and transfer to your hotel for check-in. This afternoon an orientation of the local area is planned followed by an afternoon workout at the ball field. In the evening, dinner at the hotel and time to relax.

Day
5

Morning and afternoon training sessions give way to afternoon and evening intersquad or scrimmage games. This evening you'll enjoy a seminar on the college recruiting process given by our Coast to Coast staff.

Day
6

Today you'll enjoy the Opening Ceremonies of the Adelaide Friendship Series. Together with teams from around Australia and the United States you'll be introduced to the fans prior to playing your first doubleheader. An evening tour of Adelaide is planned with dinner in the city.

Day
7

Another doubleheader against the "Aussies" as you continue the round-robin format. In the evening you'll visit the renowned East End Markets in the heart of Adelaide where, if you're a shrewd shopper, many good deals can be found on leather goods, pottery, crafts, and other souvenirs.

Day
8

A third full day of baseball as you play games to determine playoff seedings. The evening is yours to explore the Glenelg section of Adelaide where you can walk on the beach, listen to street music or visit one of the many shops or restaurants that cater to a wide variety of visitors from around the world.

Day
9

A day off from baseball today! In the morning, you'll visit the Cleland Wildlife Preserve where you can have your picture taken holding a koala, enjoy some of the hundreds of varieties of birds indigenous to Australia, or walk amongst the kangaroos and emus. They even have a Tasmanian Devil. In the afternoon we make the short drive to Victor Harbour, a beautiful seaside resort community where you'll have time to explore the town and enjoy the scenery.

Day 10

All day at the park as a doubleheader is planned against the South Australia Sports Institute team. This team is comprised of top ballplayers from around South Australia, many of whom will later go on to compete for positions on the Aussie Olympic team in 2004.

Day 11

Back to baseball, but today is only a single game so the afternoon is free to relax.

Day 12

Today is dedicated to the playoff rounds of the tournament. All teams will play at least one game (and possibly two) depending on their position in the standings.

Day 13

The final game of the Adelaide Friendship Series is the highlight today as a worthy champion will be crowned. Also, individual awards will be handed out to the most outstanding performers. The Closing Ceremony marks the end of the tournament.

Day 14

An early morning departure from Adelaide today. You "regain" the day lost when you crossed the International Date Line, so you return to Los Angeles later this same day.
