Gene Watson
"After playing 3 seasons at the University of Texas @ Arlington, Gene began working for the Texas Rangers organization in 1989 as a groundskeeper, clubhouse attendant, and ticket seller. In 1995 he began his scouting career as an associate scout for the Houston Astros covering the Central Texas area. In 1997 Watson went to work for the San Diego Padres covering the Florida State and Texas Leagues. Another move took him to the Atlanta Braves from 2000-2002 for whom he scouted both in the US as well as the Venezuelan Winter League. From 2003-2006, he was with the Florida Marlins covering the Texas League as well as the American League Central and National League Central. In 2003, he was part of a 5-man team that advanced the New York Yankees prior to the World Series. In 2006, new Kansas City Royals' General Manager Dayton Moore hired Watson. He is currently the Coordinator of Professional Scouting with Kansas City."
